Transform your teaching, transform your world: Become a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant through LVWP’s Invitational Leadership Institute.
Join us for our annual Invitational Leadership Institute (ILI), a six-credit course designed for educators of all grades and content areas – including curriculum coordinators, instructional support and special education teachers, librarians, reading specialists, ESL teachers, instructional coaches and others – who want to grow as leaders in their schools and communities without leaving the classroom. This unique year-long graduate experience, based on the National Writing Project’s “teachers-teaching-teachers” model, supports all educators as writers, practitioners, researchers, and leaders through collaboration, inquiry, and mentoring.
Course work includes: regular writing practice in a range of modes and genres; research into literacy practices; classroom demonstrations of writing instruction and assessment; writing response groups; classroom inquiry; and site leadership experiences.
Those who complete the Institute become National Writing Project Fellows, also known as Teacher Consultants (TCs). As part of a dynamic professional community, these LVWP TCs may go on to participate in the leadership of our local site through a variety of opportunities that build knowledge about the discipline of writing, professional development, and classroom practice.
Applications for the 2018-2019 ILI now being accepted.
